Curating Excellence: Art Collector's Office in Historical Home
Nestled within the historic enclave of Ashbury Heights, renowned for its charming Victorian architectural style, stands a historical house with “good bones but lacking the modern refinement that I want to live in,” said our client.
In our collaboration with an esteemed art collector and influential board member, the objective to refresh her home office became clear: preserve the house's history and transform it into an art gallery/ functional workspace. Recognizing the inherent value and character in the original framework, our client sought to honor its heritage while curating a refined workspace from her art collection. This project harmoniously blends preservation and artistic vision, celebrating the house's legacy in a curated home office-gallery fusion.
A sleek and functional standing desk takes center stage, promoting productivity and a healthy work posture, while a seated work table provides a space for collaborative endeavors. Cozy lounge chairs with an ottoman offer moments of respite and contemplation. Carefully selected furniture pieces blend modernity with comfort, and handcrafted light fixtures cast a warm glow, and walls lightened to bring forth the art. This meticulously curated home office exemplifies the intersection of architectural design, art appreciation and practicality, where form meets function, enabling enhanced productivity and elevated creativity in a visually inspiring environment.
The original stained glass windows, with their intricate patterns and time-worn beauty, were preserved and became the crowning jewels of the room. The leaded glass antique built-in cabinets, steeped in history, were cherished as treasured artifacts, gracefully standing as a testament to the craftsmanship of a bygone era.
